Investment Strategy

The Fortis Money Market Fund invests substantially all of its assets in high quality money market instruments issued by corporations, banks and the U.S. government or its agencies or instrumentalities and repurchase agreements involving these instruments. The Fund may also invest in U.S. dollar-denominated securities of foreign issuers. The dollar-weighted average maturity of the securities in the Fund is 90 days or less. The portfolio manager:

  • structures the Fund's portfolio based on interest rates, market conditions and liquidity needs
  • monitors the Fund's investments and may adjust the Fund's average maturity in anticipation of changes in short-term interest rates
  • selects securities that:
    • are denominated in U.S. dollars
    • have high credit quality and minimal credit risk
    • mature or reset in 397 days or less


Objective

The Fund seeks to provide as high a level of current income as is consistent with preservation of capital and liquidity .

Although the Fund seeks to preserve the value of your investment at $1.00 per share, it is possible to lose money by investing in the Fund. The Fund's yield will change as a result of movements in short-term interest rates and market conditions.
